Among others, he set the poems of Goethe, Moerike, Eichendorff and Gottfried Keller to music, along with some Spanish and traditional Italian poetry. In some ways, Wolf’s works are reminiscent of Schumann’s music who, coincidentally, died like Wolf; mentally deranged.
