Hace 5 días · Three years earlier, in 1034, the icon of Our Lady of Kyiv arrived from Constantinople. Indications are that it was most likely written by a monk then sent as a gift from the Patriarch of Constantinople to Prince Mstislav at Kyiv. He was son of King Volodymyr of Kyiv Rus. Yet soon the icon was moved.
Some supported Mstislav Udatny, who did not esteem the Mongols’ fighting potential and was willing to rush into battle.
