The advowson of the church belonged to the abbey before 1231, (fn. 1) and much of the parish later was held of Shortsfield manor, which represented the Wealden portion of the former Fécamp lands. Cayzer of Bletchington Park on the 29th November 1956. Other known owners were Lord Rotherwick of London (1958), C. C. Hanson of Nottingham (1961) and then John Rock Esq of London (1971).
