This is often seen as an underhanded tactic which is frequently seen in areas such as politics and controversial debate.

Hace 5 días · The straw man, red herring and equivocation fallacies all change the subject: they argue for (or against) something that is sideways to the original claim but easy to confuse with the original claim. Ad hominem arguments also change the subject—from whether the speaker is right to whether the speaker is "good."
