The words came out of frustration, since her agent/dealer/husband, the photographer Alfred Stieglitz, had just elected to exclude a New York architectural view from a group exhibition at Anderson Galleries.

O’Keeffe frequently returned to the residential hotel on Lexington Avenue for the next decade, sometimes living there seasonally.
