Hace 4 días · In 1338 the Chancellor, who styled himself the founder, granted all his rights and titles in the College to Lady Elizabeth de Burgh, daughter of Gilbert de Clare, who inherited the Honour of Clare from her brother Gilbert. She refounded, endowed and renamed it Clare Hall, a name retained until 1856 when it was changed to Clare College.
