Compared to the Snowberry Clearwing, which is just 2 inches long, Hummingbirds are much larger. This is one of the easiest ways to tell if you are looking at a moth or a hummingbird.

Like many other hawk moths, they hover on top of the flowers like hummingbirds to feed on nectar from various sweet-smelling plants.

Hace 1 día · The “ Sentiero dei Limoni ” or Path of the Lemons extends from Maoiri to Minori up and down a steep hillside (725 feet of elevation gain). In total, it’s about 400 steps and 2.5 miles and took us around an hour and a half to complete. Olivia walked much of it on her own which was very helpful especially with the sun beating down on us.
Hace 4 días · I was able to sneak up for a photo of this well camouflaged creature, and it turned out to be a moth: a White-Lined Sphinx (Hyles lineata). Another name for this is Hummingbird Moth because of its large size (wingspan 2-3 inches) and flight pattern. It certainly did fool me at first.
