I really like this song, and I had been singing it today when it kind of randomly clicked who "Richard" in the lyrics referred to. Richard Ramirez the serial killer and rapist, aka the "Night Stalker". After learning that Eva O was infatuated with him and that she sent him letters, it makes the song feel kind of gross. It feels glorifying.
