The dynastic name Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (German: Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha, or Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha) was that of Victoria’s German-born husband, Albert, prince consort of Great Britain and Ireland. Their eldest son was Edward VII.

Hace 3 días · In 1828, Duke Ernst I of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha turned the monastery into a neo-Gothic-style pleasure palace surrounded by a landscaped park and hunting ground. This watercolour, painted around 1847, shows an upstairs drawing room. Queen Victoria is said to have admired the floor "of inlaid wood, dark and light" during a visit to Reinhardsbrunn.

Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was initially the first candidate for the Greek throne; however, he turned down the offer.
