It's not unusual to say "qué maldito" in situations far less dramatic or severe than being eaten alive by zombies, at least where I come from, and 'damn you' can be pretty strong in the proper context.

23 de mar. de 2007 · This writer must be playing with the convention - the usual form is right-hand man, so he says left-hand man to catch the attention. It might also be to do with the fact that the left (sinister) side is regarded as dubious, even possibly devilish. Nobody in Russia was allowed to write left-handed, for instance.
