Buster Mathis Jr. (born March 25, 1970) is an American former professional boxer who competed in the heavyweight division. [1] He held the regional IBF- USBA Heavyweight title, winning the belt in 1994, making two successful defenses until losing to Lou Savarese in 1996.

Mathis had various health problems in later years, including two strokes, a heart attack, and kidney failure. He died of heart failure at age 52. [15] His son Buster Mathis Jr. became a professional boxer and fought Mike Tyson in 1995.
