Joan of Rethel (died 1328), also known as Jeanne, was Countess of Rethel between 1285 and 1328. She was the daughter of Hugh IV, Count of Rethel and his third wife Isabelle of Grandpré. She succeeded her father as Countess of Rethel in 1285.
The first counts of Rethel ruled independently, before the county passed first to the counts of Nevers, then to the counts of Flanders, and finally to the dukes of Burgundy. In 1405 the county became part of the peerage of France , and in 1581 it was elevated to a duchy.

Joan, Countess of Rethel. Joanna of Flanders ( c. 1295 – September 1374) was Duchess of Brittany by her marriage to John of Montfort. Much of her life was taken up in defense of the rights of her husband and, later, son to the dukedom, which was challenged by the House of Blois during the War of the Breton Succession.
When Jeanne de Rethel was born in 1273, in Rethel, Ardennes, Champagne-Ardenne, France, her father, Hugh IV Count of Rethel, was 29 and her mother, Isabella of Grandpré, was 29. She married Louis de Nevers I on 16 December 1290.
