Thora van Deken is a 1920 Swedish silent drama film directed by John W. Brunius and starring Pauline Brunius, Hugo Björne and Gösta Ekman. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Vilhelm Bryde and Gustaf Hallén.

29 de sept. de 2017 · The Swedish film Thora van Deken from 1920, though little-known and rarely seen, is a strikingly well-made and well-acted psychological drama. Based on a short novel by Henrik Pontoppidan, it is consistently structured around its title character, a hard and uncompromising woman who commits a crime for her daughter’s sake.
Thora van Deken is a woman hardened by life. When she visits her ex-husband, who is dying, she discovers that he has bequeathed large sums to people around him and that she does not deserve such attention, depriving her daughter of what is rightfully hers.
