Alfred James Ellis (April 21, 1941 – September 23, 2021), known as Pee Wee Ellis due to his diminutive stature, was an American saxophonist, composer, and arranger. With a background in jazz , he was a member of James Brown 's band in the 1960s, appearing on many of Brown's recordings and co-writing hits like " Cold Sweat " and " Say It Loud – I'm Black and I'm Proud ".

3 de oct. de 2021 · Alfred “Pee Wee” Ellis es originario de Bradenton, en el estado de Florida, donde nació en 1941. Su juventud transcurre entre Lubbock (Texas) donde realiza su primera actuación en público cuando todavía asiste a la Junior High School. En ese tiempo y con tan solo dieciséis años se convierte en alumno aventajado de Sonny Rollins.
Desde 2000, Pee Wee Ellis continuó editando álbumes bajo su nombre, efectuando giras regulares con grupos propios, con The JB's o con otros artistas.
