He was born in Berlin, the son of Jewish architect Ernst L. Freud and the grandson of Sigmund Freud.

24 de feb. de 2023 · (1922-2011), Artist. Sitter in 66 portraits. Artist of 6 portraits. Grandson of Sigmund Freud, he was born in Berlin and moved to England aged ten in 1933. He studied at the Central School of Art and the East Anglian School of Painting (1939-42) under Cedric Morris. His first solo exhibition was at the Lefevre gallery, London in 1944.

Working in an uncompromisingly confrontational style, his portraits and nudes were rendered with a thickly laden brush. Often painting himself, as well as family and friends his works are imbued with a distinctive psychological space.
