She was student of Gerard van Honthorst and painted so ably in his style that some of her works were attributed to him.
Second wife of Monsieur, brother of Louis XIV, the Princess of the Palatinate, known as Princess Palatine, remains, along with Saint-Simon, the best surviving source of information on life at Versailles. She died in 1722, leaving behind her some 90,000 letters.
When Luise Marie von der Pfalz was born on 23 July 1647, in Paris, Île-de-France, France, her father, Prince Edward von der Pfalz, Prince Palatine, KG, was 21 and her mother, Anna Marie di Gonzaga-Nevers, was 31. She married Karl Theodor Otto Prince Of Salm on 20 March 1671, in Asnières, Loir-et-Cher, Centre, France.
