The Army Command and General Staff College (ECEME) is located at Praia Vermelha in Rio de Janeiro. It is a historical school of the Brazilian Army. ECEME´s mission is to prepare military leaders, senior advisors and General-Staff officers and contribute to the development of military doctrine and thought of the Ground Force.

1907 - Provisional installation at the extinct Military School of Brazil, in Praia Vermelha. 1909 - Graduation of the first class; increase of course for three years and inclusion of the teaching of Strategy and Military History. 1916 - Beginning of the participation of civilian and military authorities as lecturers in the School.
The training of military engineers, as well as that of officers in general, was held at the Military School of Praia Vermelha (1874 to 1904). In that last year, the School was transferred to Realengo, where the Engineering and Artillery officers graduated.
1907 - Provisional installation at the Military School of Brazil which is no longer in existence, at Praia Vermelha (Red Beach). 1909 - Graduation of the first class; increase of the course to three years and inclusion of the teaching of strategy and military history.
