John Kenneth Ambler (6 June 1924 – 31 May 2008) was a British businessman married to Princess Margaretha of Sweden . Life and work. Ambler was born in Dorking, Surrey. His parents were Captain Charles Ambler (1896–1954) and Louise Gwendolen Cullen (1895–1980). In October 1942, he was commissioned in the Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey) .
Ambler and her husband separated in 1994, but never divorced. He died on 31 May 2008. Margaretha and John Ambler's marriage produced three children: Sybilla (b. 1965), Edward (b. 1966), and James (b. 1969).

Although Ambler officially gave up his tenure-track position at the age of 70 in December 2002, he wasn’t ready to close the book on his academic career. “I told my department chair that, as long as it was possible, I’d like to continue teaching part-time,” he said.
Margaretha married the British businessman John Ambler (1924–2008) in 1964. The couple had three children: Sibylla (born 1965), Edward (born 1966) and James (born 1969).
