His father, Johnny Fields, was a founding member of the legendary Five Blind Boys of Alabama, and he was the cousin of Manhattans lead singer Gerald Alston.

  7. Edward Dwight Fields was born April 16, 1950 in Henderson, NC. Son of Mattie and the late Joh nn y Fields, one of the founding members of The Five Blind Boys of Alabama. Dwight and Gerald Alston are first cousins and grew up together.
