Stanbridge Earls School was a coeducational independent special school located near Romsey, Hampshire, England. Students ranged in age from 10–19. The school catered for both boarding and day pupils. The school specialized in teaching and helping pupils with dyslexia, dyscalculia, developmental coordination disorder and mild Asperger syndrome.
Stanbridge Earls School [1] [2] in Hampshire has a vast history. The main house in Audley Stanbridge Earls is a Grade II* listed building. [3] Its history dates back to Saxon royalty, with links to King Alfred the Great and the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale .
Stanbridge Earls is situated to the north-east of Romsey, bounded on the south by a chain of ponds (possibly originally fishponds). Historic Development Stanbridge Earls is reputed to be the place where Ethelwulf, King of the West Saxons and father of Alfred the Great died and was buried.
