Heal's annotations on mount; "Christopher Seton is described in the list of subscribers to G. Bickham's 'British Monarchy' (1748) as 'Engraver in Ordinary to his Majesty'. He was the father of John Thomas Seaton (sic) the portrait painter (see D.N.B. & Bryan's 'Dictionary').
