Charles FitzCharles, 1st Earl of Plymouth (1657 – 17 October 1680), was the illegitimate son of King Charles II of England and Catherine Pegge. He had a sister, Catherine, who is believed to have become a nun. [2]
The first creation was in 1675 for Charles FitzCharles, one of the dozens of illegitimate children of King Charles II and one of a few by his mistress Catherine Pegge. He died without heirs in 1680, and the title became extinct.

Apparently ignored by Charles II for much of his early life, Fitzcharles charmed his way into the court and the king’s affections after arriving in England in 1672. For a while it seemed that he had eclipsed his older half-brother, James Scott, duke of Monmouth, in the king’s favour.
25 de abr. de 2024 · Charles Fitzcharles, Earl of Plymouth was buried in Westminster Abbey on 18th January 1681 (modern dating) in the vault in Henry VII's chapel formerly occupied by Oliver Cromwell. He has no monument or gravestone.
