There was a North Kelvinside Secondary School that served most of the Maryhill district of Glasgow. However, the school was closed and the vast majority of the pupils transferred to Cleveden Secondary School in the Kelvindale area on the other side of the River Kelvin to the west.
A photograph of North Kelvinside Secondary School, taken during the 1970s. The earliest buildings of this school on Oban Drive were built in 1914 and 1920 in red sandstone, and the latest during the 1960s in the concrete-clad style typical of that period.
The school had been opened in 1914 to provide secondary education in the North Kelvinside area of the city, which had been under the jurisdiction of the Maryhill School Board until it was amalgamated with the Glasgow School Board in 1911.
8 de jun. de 2023 · The school stands on the site of the former North Kelvinside Secondary. When the high school was demolished, its war memorial was donated to Ruchill Kelvinside Church, whose congregation has now returned it to the primary school.
