Jay Bowerman (August 15, 1876 – October 25, 1957) was an American politician of the Republican Party who served as the 13th Governor of Oregon, for the final few months of the term of Frank Benson, who retired due to illness.

William Jay Bowerman (February 19, 1911 – December 24, 1999) was an American track and field coach and co-founder of Nike, Inc. Over his career, he trained 31 Olympic athletes, 51 All-Americans, 12 American record-holders, 22 NCAA champions and 16 sub-4 minute milers.

JAY BOWERMAN was born in Hesper, Iowa. He moved to Oregon in 1893, where he studied law at Willamette University, completing a law degree at the age of twenty. He went on to practice law in Salem and Condon, interrupted briefly by service during the Spanish-American War.
