In it, Richard Rorty argued that, beginning in the seventeenth century, philosophers developed an unhealthy obsession with the notion of representation: comparing the mind to a mirror that reflects reality.
Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature is a remarkable work, in which Rorty combines the historical and the analytic approaches to philosophy in order to give a theory of its nature and a description of it as a discipline. Thus, the book is doubly interesting.
