The open-air model was introduced to Fendalton School in the early 1920s, to provide healthy, giving classrooms air and sunlight to the learners through the time of the Spanish flu pandemic. The use of the name Tūora means uplifting health and vitality.

Fendalton Open Air School provides education for students from Years 1 to 6. It is in Fendalton, Christchurch, and has a roll of 462 students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Fendalton Open-air School teaches boys and girls from Year 1-6. Our students are aged from 5 to 11 years old.
