Stargazer is the eighth album by jazz trumpeter Dave Douglas. It was released in 1997 on Arabesque Records. The album features performances by Douglas, Chris Speed, Josh Roseman, Uri Caine, James Genus and Joey Baron, and includes Douglas' interpretations of three compositions by Wayne Shorter.
Chris Speed is a composer, clarinetist and saxophonist.. – and is “one of the principal figures in a dynamic left-of-center jazz/improv scene in the city” (NYTimes). His own bands include Endangered Blood , Human Feel , yeah NO , Trio Iffy , Pachora and The Clarinets .

Speed is considered one of the leading NYC musicians linking jazz and creative improvisation with Eastern European and Middle Eastern folk music. Currently, he works with Uri Caine’s Bach, Mahler, and Mozart projects, as well as Ben Perowsky’s quartet.
