Andrew, Gurley, Albin and Getz reformed the band in late 1969 with new members Nick Gravenites, Dave Schallock and Kathi McDonald. This version of the group split up in 1972. Andrew, Gurley, Albin and Getz reformed the band again 1987 since when the group has continued to perform with various line-ups to the present day.
Be a Brother is the third album by Big Brother and the Holding Company, released in October 1970. It was their first album after Janis Joplin 's departure. Recruited in her place were guitarist David Shallock and singer-songwriters Nick Gravenites and Kathi McDonald. [4]
However, The Sons disbanded once more following the album's release in April 1971. When the group reformed again in the summer it featured a new rhythm section, with drummer Bill Vitt and bassist David Schallock (from Big Brother and the Holding Company) replacing Bowen and Strong, respectively.
In the fall of 1969 the band back together and come three new musicians: Nick Gravenites (vocals), Dave Schallock (guitar) and Kathi McDonald (vocals). In 1970 is the first album of Big Brother without Joplin released: Be a Brother .
