Searles High School was a public high school located in Great Barrington in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts. Students attended the school from Great Barrington, the villages of Housatonic, Van Deusenville and other communities in the southern Berkshire region.

David Rutstein should be welcomed to this special group of writers after reading his first book, “A History of Searles High School 1898-1967, Great Barrington, Massachusetts,” a historical account of the former Searles High School in Great Barrington. I was easily impressed with the book.

Monument Mountain Regional High School (MMRHS) opened in 1968, consolidating the former Searles High School in Great Barrington and Williams High School in Stockbridge, and serves the high school students of the district.
