The Herbert Berghof (HB) Studio of New York offers classes, workshops, and full-time programs for actors, playwrights, and directors of all ages.
Founded in 1945 by Viennese-born American actor/director Herbert Berghof, HB Studio is one of the original New York acting studios, providing training and practice in the performing arts. In 1948, Uta Hagen joined the Studio as Berghof's artistic partner, and the two wed ten years later.
In 1945, he co-founded HB Studio (the Herbert Berghof Studio) in New York City, as a place where aspiring actors could train and practice. In 1948, Uta Hagen joined the Studio as Berghof's artistic partner, and they married in 1957. They ran the studio together until his death in 1990. [2]
HB Studio was founded in 1945 by the Broadway actor and director Herbert Berghof. Born in Austria, Berghof was a protégé of the German realist director Max Reinhardt.
