Bio. Elissa Down's films embrace the emotional. She is a true "actors' director". On set, Elissa creates a warm and genuinely collaborative environment for her performers to explore their characters. Her films do not shy away from moments of fragility, intimacy and confronting realism.
Elissa Down is an Australian filmmaker, who in 1999 and 2000, was nominated for Young Film-maker of the year at the WA Screen Awards. Her major works are a number of award-winning short films, Summer Angst, The Cherry Orchard, Her Outback, The Bathers, Pink Pyjamas, HMAS Unicorn and Samantha Stewart, aged fourteen.
