Tokugawa Ieshige; 徳川 家重 (January 28, 1712 – July 13, 1761) was the ninth shōgun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan. The first son of Tokugawa Yoshimune, his mother was the daughter of Ōkubo Tadanao, known as Osuma no kata.

Tokugawa Ieshige (徳川 家重,?) fue shōgun Tokugawa desde 1745 hasta 1760. Nacido el 28 de enero de 1712, fue el primer hijo de Yoshimune. Nació crónicamente enfermo y tenía un defecto en su forma de hablar. Tuvo poco interés en gobernar, y tenía talento para el ajedrez, sobre el que escribió un libro.

Home. Persons. Tokugawa Ieshige was the eldest son of Tokugawa Yoshimune and Osuma no Kata, the daughter of the Daimyo of Odawara, Okubo Tadanao. Unfortunately, his mother passed away when Ieshige was only two years old.

Tokugawa Ieshige was the eldest son of Tokugawa Yoshimune, and succeeded Yoshimune to become the ninth Tokugawa shogun in 1745. He stepped down in favor of his eldest son, Tokugawa Ieharu, on 1760 /5/13 [1], and died the following year.
