Dorothy Schwartz was one of the original members of a girls Barber Shop style group that was brainchild of a girlfriend from high school in her hometown of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001. The original members were: Janet (Buschmann) (Ertel) Bleyer, bass vocals, 1946-1957 (longer for recording) Alice Mae (Buschmann) Spielvogel 1946-1947. Dorothy "Dottie" (Hummitzsch) Schwartz, lead vocals, 1946-1952.
