  1. Highly respected and champion Newcastle trainer Max Lees has passed away on Tuesday afternoon, after suffering from an incurable form of cancer. Lees had became ill in March this year when he suffered a heart attack but only a month later he was back at the track, albeit taking things slowly, right in among the game and the horses he loved so much.
