Fue fundada en 1365 y su matrícula actual es de 91,000 estudiantes. Todos ellos son formados por alrededor de 9400 profesores que además se desenvuelven como académicos y científicos. Asimismo, pertenece a la red ERASMUS/Sócrates y tiene convenios con las universidades más importantes del mundo.
