The Phillip Street Theatre (succeeded by the Phillip Theatre) was a popular and influential Australian theatre and theatrical company, located in Phillip Street in Sydney that was active from 1954 and 1971 that became well known for its intimate satirical revue productions.
The Savoy, from around 1929 to 1939, housed live theatre companies, particularly Doris Fitton's Independent Theatre. The Phillip Street Theatre was located in the St James Hall, where Bill Orr received his reputation as producer of fabulous Phillip Street Revues. [12]

The venue was redecorated and renamed the Phillip Street Theatre in 1954 when taken over by William Orr and Eric Duckworth for its intimate revue productions. In 1961, the theatre was closed and subsequently underwent changes that reduced both the number of seats and the atmosphere.
