Blue Boyé is a solo album by Julius Hemphill. It was recorded at Mayhew Street Studios in Larchmont, New York, during January 1977, and was released on vinyl by Hemphill's own Mbari label later that year as a two-LP set. In 1998, it was reissued on CD by Tim Berne 's Screwgun Records.

Homeboy Tootin' At The Dog/Star As a friend and student of Julius Hemphill, I was fortunate enough to have been present at the recording of Blue Boyé back in 1977.
In "C.M.E.," Hemphill reveals the fine twining of soul, blues, and gospel and floats them along a time line from the end of the 19th to the end of the 20th century. Blue Boyé is a singular album, born of equal parts inspiration, determination, and artistry.
