Paul Verhoeven es un director, guionista y productor holandés, hijo de una sombrerera llamada Nel van Schaardenburg y del maestro de escuela Wim Verhoeven. Nació en Ámsterdan y creció en la pequeña localidad de Slikkerveer y en la ciudad de La Haya, lugar que fue ocupado por los nazis en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, cuando Paul era un niño.
Verhoeven ha estado muy activo como cineasta tanto en Hollywood como en Holanda. En su país, ha tenido grandes éxitos que han sido considerados como los mejores de la historia de Holanda. Turkish Delight (1973) y Black Book (2006) son sólo un par de ejemplos.
Mini Bio. Paul Verhoeven graduated from the University of Leiden, with a degree in math and physics. He entered the Royal Netherlands Navy, where he began his film career by making documentaries for the Navy and later for TV. In 1969, he directed the popular Dutch TV series, Floris (1969), about a medieval knight.
