Anthony Richard Hurd, Baron Hurd (2 May 1901 – 12 February 1966) was a British politician and former Conservative Member of Parliament for Newbury. Early life and parliamentary career [ edit] Hurd was educated at Marlborough College and Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he was a contemporary of Rab Butler. [1] .

Douglas Hurd was born on 8 March 1930, eldest son of Anthony, Baron Hurd (who died in 1966) and Stephanie Corner (who died in 1985). He was educated at Eton, where he was a King’s Scholar and Newcastle Scholar and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was a Major Scholar and also President of the Cambridge Union in 1952.
