Frank Torpey, the last surviving original member of The Sweet, has sadly passed away. His family have posted the following message on Facebook.
Fairminer's position was eventually assumed by Frank Torpey (born Frank Edward Torpey, 30 April 1945, Kilburn, North West London) – a schoolfriend of Tucker's who had just left West London group The Tribe (aka The Dream). Torpey only lasted a few months, and in late 1967 Robin Box (born 19 June 1944) took his place.

The Sweet se formaron en Londres el año 1966 y estaban compuestos por el cantante Brian Connolly (nacido el 5 de octubre de 1949 en Hamilton, Escocia), el guitarrista Frank Torpey, el bajista Steve Priest (nacido el 23 de febrero de 1950 en Hayes) y el batería Mick Tucker (nacido el 17 de julio de 1949 en Harlesden).

The band actually dates back to the late '60's and one of its co-founders was a guitarist named Frank Torpey. Though he didn't stay in the band long, he helped create a legacy.
