Swing Mob (sometimes known as Da Bassment Cru) was a loosely knit musical collective consisting of artists and record labels first discovered by Jodeci member DeVante Swing in 1991.
DeVante’s vision extended beyond Jodeci with the formation of Da Basement, also known as the Swing Mob collective. This group of artists and producers, which included future stars like Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Ginuwine, and Tweet, became a breeding ground for talent that would shape the sound of R&B and hip hop for years to come.

Jodeci (/ ˈ dʒ oʊ d ə s i / JOH-də-see) is an American R&B quartet consisting of members DeVanté Swing, Mr. Dalvin, K-Ci, and JoJo. Formed in 1988 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Jodeci began as a duo of DeVanté Swing and JoJo but later each added their brothers.
Swing Mob folded in 1995, with a variety of reasons being attributed. According to Smoke E Digglera of Playa, the artists were forced to choose whether they wanted to be signed directly to Def Jam or through Swing Mob, causing a question of loyalty to arise amongst members.
