Neil Ellwood Peart OC (/ p ɪər t / PEERT; September 12, 1952 – January 7, 2020) was a Canadian and American musician, known as the drummer and primary lyricist of the rock band Rush. He was known to fans by the nickname 'The Professor', derived from the Gilligan's Island character of the same name.

10 de ene. de 2020 · El músico Neil Peart falleció este martes en Santa Mónica, California, tras haber sido diagnosticado con cáncer cerebral hace tres años. Fue la familia quien anunció la noticia mediante su vocero, Elliot Mintz. El trágico deceso fue confirmado por Meg Symsyk, portavoz del Rush trío de rock progresivo por Peart, Geddy Lee y Alex Lifeson.

Bio. Neil Peart was born September 12, 1952, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and first lived on the family dairy farm, near Hagersville. After the family moved to nearby St. Catharines, Neil began drum lessons at age thirteen, studying with local teacher Don George, then played in a succession of rock bands.
