Black Uhuru is a Jamaican reggae group formed in 1972, initially as Uhuru ( Swahili for 'freedom'). The group has undergone several line-up changes over the years, with Derrick "Duckie" Simpson as the mainstay.
Black Uhuru went on one small US West Coast Tour & headlined the Truckee Reggae Fest. One of the most recognized and prolific reggae bands for over 50 years. Derrick “Duckie” Simpson is the founder and leader of the group.
