Falsifiers of History was a book published by the Soviet Information Bureau, edited and partially re-written by Joseph Stalin, in response to documents made public in January 1948 regarding German–Soviet relations before and after the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact.

History is a social resource that contributes to shaping national identity, culture, and the public memory. Through the study of history, people are imbued with a particular cultural identity; therefore, by negatively revising history, the negationist can craft a specific, ideological identity.
Published originally by the Soviet Information Bureau and allegedly authored in part by Josef Stalin, Falsifiers of History is Stalin's view on America's role in propelling nations towards war and the breakdown of Soviet-German relations in the lead to WWII.

The secret protocols that accompanied the pact, dividing eastern europe into German and Russian spheres of influence, were never mentioned in Falsifiers of History, and subsequently their existence was explicitly denied by Soviet historians. This picture of europe’s descent into war during the 1930s did not change very much after Stalin’s death.

This was a work which broadly speaking provides the parameters, and even much of the phraseology, of all subsequent Soviet accounts of the Pact, and even those of the post-Soviet period.
