The novel follows seventeen-year-old Zac Meier as he undergoes treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma in Perth, Western Australia. He meets Mia, a fellow cancer patient in the adjacent room, and the two quickly form a connection.

Zac and Mia are finally a couple, but both are dealing with new hurdles that will put their relationship to the test. Desperate to get back to his life before cancer, Zac finds getting a fresh start may be harder than he thought while Mia learns to live as an amputee.
Overview. "Zac and Mia", based on the novel by A.J. Betts, about 2 teens battling cancer in the same hospital. In the real world, Zac and Mia would have pretty much nothing in common, but in the hospital, where they're the only 2 teens on the ward, they develop an unbreakable bond.
