Based on a True Story is an album by the American band the Del-Lords, released in 1988 on Enigma Records. The band supported the album with a North American tour.
The plot follows Billie Jean Davy, a teenager from Texas, and her brother Binx, who become fugitives after a confrontation with a local bully turns violent. Billie Jean demands justice and becomes an icon for teens, leading to a standoff with the authorities.
Yet, they valiantly soldiered on, slickening up the sound just enough to sound radio-compatible, if not exactly radio-friendly, with producer Neil Geraldo (Pat Benatar) once again aiding the band’s quest for the perfect balance.
