Duchess Donata of Mecklenburg (born 11 March 1956) is the senior remaining member of the House of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Since there are no males left in the family, the Schwerin branch itself is considered extinct due to the Salic law of succession, leaving Mecklenburg-Strelitz as the only remaining line of the House of Mecklenburg .
Her Highness Helene Olga Feodora Donata Maria Katharina Theresia, Duchess of Mecklenburg, Princess of Wenden, Schwerin and Ratzeburg, Countess of Schwerin, Lady of the Lands of Rostock and Stargard, was born on 13 October 1988 in Freiburg-im-breisgau.
Although unable to become the formal head of the House of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Duchess Donata represents the family and is the legal heir to the legacy and estate of her grandfather Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV which includes various forests and works of art.

The family of Duke Georg and Grand Duchess Ekaterina Mikhailovna became heavily involved in Russian society supporting many charitable and cultural projects. Duke Georg and his two sons Duke Georg Alexander and Duke Carl Michael also all served in the Imperial Russian Army.
