David Sánchez (born 3 September 1968 in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) is a Grammy-winning jazz tenor saxophonist from Puerto Rico. Early life [ edit ] Sanchez took up the conga when he was eight and started playing tenor saxophone at age 12.

17 de jul. de 2023 · Latin jazz indie label ZOHO Music L.L.C. announces the release of Standards Rican-ditioned, the last recording by the legendary percussionist Ray Barretto--who passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2006, at the age of 76.

Hijo de Ramón Barretto y Dolores Pagán, naturales de Aguadilla, Puerto Rico; pertenece a la generación de boricuas que surgieron en New York, y se conocen como “neoyoricans”: hijos de puertorriqueños que no conocían la Isla.
El saxofonista puertorriqueño David Sánchez ganó este premio en 2005. El músico estadounidense Chick Corea ha ganado este premio tres veces, en 2007, 2011 y 2012. El músico cubano Arturo Sandoval ganó en 2010. El guitarrista gallego Daniel Minimalia ganó en 2020.
It’s hardly a surprise that the two terms became – after a while – all but interchangeable. Often, however, when the musical fire burned brightest the tapes and those who pressed all the right buttons and turned the right switches deftly manipulating the various knobs to capture the music in all its pristine glory were absent.
