David T. Howard High School was a school for African American students in Atlanta, Georgia. It has many prominent alumni. In 2018 the school was being renovated for a planned 2020 reopening as a middle school.

10 de abr. de 2018 · The school played a role in educating a young Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Atlanta’s former mayor, Maynard Jackson, and NBA Legend Walt Frazier permanently closed its doors in 1976. Now, it’s getting a second chance to influence young minds in Atlanta.
6 de abr. de 2017 · David T. Howard opened in 1947 (formerly an elementary school of the same name) as Atlanta's second high school dedicated to the African-American community. The only other high school for African-American's was Booker T. Washington high school which remains in use.

Under the leadership of Principals Gideons, Howard became one of the leading high schools in the City of Atlanta. David T. Howard High School continued the tradition of high scholastic and athletic achievement under the leadership of Mr. Floyd Sullivan, and his successors. Dr. Carl Harris and Mr. Randal Gay.
