"Sunny Came Home" is a folk-rock song by American musician Shawn Colvin. It is the opening track on her 1996 concept album , A Few Small Repairs , and was released as a CD and cassette single on June 24, 1997.
The lyrics symbolize Sunny’s desire to escape her past and start afresh. The fire represents her letting go of the old and embracing a new beginning. It is worth noting that during a concert in Perth, Australia, in 2013, Shawn Colvin confirmed that the song is a murder ballad.
